SAUDI ARABIA BLOCKED MORE THAN 1.2 MILLION WEBSITES & LINKS LAST YEAR
Saudi Arabia's CITC (Communications and Information Technology Commission) processed more than 1.2 million requests to block websites in the last year 2017. Most Viewed : Saudi offers free Haramain train tickets from Makah to Madina
The number 1.2 million in 2017 is increased by 24% compare to the before last year 2016, websites and links which was blocked included those related to "immoral materials", like pornography and gambling as well as child exploitation. Trending : Penalty for smoking at no smoking places
- CITC called the public to support its efforts by reporting such sites and has pledged to respond the requests within one day. Starting from 2008, CITC has blocked more than 6 million links and websites.
- Last year 2017, Saudi Arabia unblocked some applications which are offering free voice and video calls over internet, applications like Whatsapp, Skype, Viber and other providers under wider reforms. See Also : Saudi Arabia approved anti Harassment law
