STC launches eSIM services in Saudi Arabia, For the First time in the Kingdom
Saudi Telecom Company has launched e-SIM services, for the first time in the Kingdom. The embedded-SIM (eSIM) is a technology that allows you to activate prepaid or postpaid plans without using physical sim card, It will eliminate the need of traditional plastic SIM Card. The eSIM is embedded within the device, The telecom operator will provide you QR code to activate your eSIM, It is physically not available in your device, Most of the new smartphones are coming with eSIM technology including one physical sim, especially Apple's iPhones. - According to the STC, eSIM is avialable with MYSTC app, STC sales offices and mySTC portal, The cost for upgrading your physical sim to eSIM is 25 SR for prepaid numbers and 50 SR for postpaid numbers. The company said 'Enjoy the FREE SIM replacement offer and replace your traditional SIM with eSIM (Valid until 22nd April 2020)'.
- In order to activate eSIM, The client must scratch the QR Code, Internte must be available on the device for activation, Once activated it cannot be used on another device, in case of changing the device, you need to do another replacement as eSIM will only work on one device once activated. - The company asks those who need more information on it can send 'eSIM' message to 900 or visit STC website. All sims are convertible to eSIM, if their device support eSIM technology.
