Coronavirus Death rate is Very Low in Saudi Arabia compared to Global - Health Minister
The Minister of Health Dr. Tawfiq Al-Rabiah, confirmed that the increase in new cases of coronavirus during the past 2 weeks is due to the extensive examination and the global death rate from Corona virus in the world is 10 times the rate in the Kingdom. He said :
First of all, I thank the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques for the unlimited support of the health sector. I also thank His Highness the Crown Prince for the daily, continuous, and accurate follow-up given his great keenness on the health and safety of everyone.
You have noticed an increase in cases in the past two weeks, which exceeded 1000 cases per day, and this is the result of an expanded examination by health teams in all regions of the Kingdom. Most Viewed : Strict penalties on those violates Coronavirus measures
Despite that, we announce to you that the death rate in the Kingdom is very low. The global death rate is 7%, while the rate in the Saudi Arabia is less than 0.7%. That is, the world average is more than ten times the rate in the Kingdom, and this is for 2 main reasons:
First is the presence of an accurate and uniform treatment protocol developed by the Ministry of Health through a group of Saudi experts who meet on a daily basis to update the protocol based on everything new in treatment methods. The second reason is the result of an extensive examination and active survey, through which we track cases, search for them, and reach them before they spread and before cases get worse. Thank God, this resulted in a speedy investigation and treatment of cases urgently.
As good news, since the beginning of the pandemic, the country has allocated thousands of families to intensive care and respirators for the new Corona virus patients. Thank God, the vacancy of Intensive Cares today are more than 96%. By applying preventive measures, we will not need them and I still say that the danger still exists and your support and assistance in applying preventive measures is very important in this pandemic. I stress that the people most at risk of severe infection with the virus are over 65 years old, have chronic diseases or have respiratory difficulties. At last, I say, rest assured that you are in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia under a leadership that put human health first.
