Saudi Customs reveals new mechanism for Individual importers of Tobacco products
Saudi Customs has revealed a new mechanism to regulate the import of tobacco products by individual importers. These includes regulations for the import of tobacco products in their baggage or via parcels.
The new mechanism allowed individuals to import 2,400 cigarettes or a consignment of 125 cigars and 2 kg of shisha products or its equivalent of tobacco products every 3 months via express transport services or mail or air cargo service by individual travelers. - In the event of importing more than the permitted quantities, they will be seized and the importer or traveler will be required to return them to their source within a specified period, they will be transferred to the warehouse of the leftovers in customs in preparation for selling them for the export fee, and the concerned person in this case is not entitled to claim after the deadline for review has expired.
- Customs pointed out that 100% custom duties will be collected in addition to 100% selective tax and a 15% VAT on imported quantities, individual travelers will be exempt from these fees and taxes if the quantity received with them does not exceed 200 cigarettes or 500 grams of tobacco. - The Saudi customs confirmed that these procedures are not applicable to individual importers and travelers who are are below the age of 18 years, as well as for transit passengers and to those tobacco products that are seized while trying to smuggle into Saudi Arabia.
