CITC launches an initiative to provide 60,000 Free Wi-Fi Hotspots at Public places in Saudi Arabia
The Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) in Saudi Arabia announced the launch of an initiative to deploy 60,000 additional free Wi-Fi hotspots in a number of public places across the Kingdom in cooperation with telecom service providers of Saudi Arabia.
The CITC said that, it had started implementing this imitative in various phases, bringing additional 60,000 free Wi-Fi hotspots distributed in a number of public places all over Saudi Arabia.
- This initiative to fulfill basic requirements, including unifying the network of these points, free access, facilitating user access procedures and providing coverage maps with all free access points in all regions, in a way that allow users to view it on company's website or application. - This imitative allows free Wi-Fi to public for all for 2 hours per day, for a number of users and visitors of a number of public places.
- The governor of CITC, Dr. Muhammad bin Saudi Al Tamimi said that, this initiative comes within the framework of the CITC's keenness to promote the deployment of services, which reflects the progress of the infrastructure in Saudi Arabia and contributes to achieving its goals to allow Kingdom's transformation into a digital society.
