Public Prosecution warns of Physical or Psychological abuse on Women in Saudi Arabia, Reminds its Penalty
The Public Prosecution in Saudi Arabia has warned people from abusing women physically or psychologically in the Kingdom and reminds its penalties, according to the Protection from Abuse system.
The Public Prosecution of the Kingdom said that the system of protection from abuse strengthens a set of safeguards to eliminate cases of violence against women, and establishes a package of criminal procedures and penalties that are hard and strict against any violations on violating it in this regard. - The Public Prosecution stated the prohibition of any kind of violence against women, physical, psychological or sexual abuse or threat of it, committed by a person against a woman, bypassing the boundaries of her eligible guardianship, authority or responsibility, or because of the family relationship or dependency relationship between them. Or a guarantee, a guardianship, or a living affiliation.
- The Penalties for violators include imprisonment for a period of not less than 1 month and up to 1 year, a fine of not less than 5,000 SR and up to 50,000 riyals, the penalty to be double in case of repeating it, as per the Article 13 of the Protection from Harm.
