 Saudi Arabia ranked 2nd in Arab region and 40th in World in 'Very High' Human Development


Saudi Arabia has ranked 2nd in the Arab region and 41st in the world out of 189 countries, in the list of countries with very high human development, as per the Human Development Report issued by the United Nations Development Program for the year 2020.



The Ministry of Education in its statement stated that measuring the human development index depends on evaluating long-term progress in 3 basic aspects of development, Long health life, which is measured by the life hope of an individual.

- The Human Development Index also depends on access to knowledge and is measured by the years of education available to children of early school age and adults from the age of 23 and over, and the decent standard of living, which is measured by the per capita share of the gross national income. - The Saudi Arabia’s index in the report dealing with the topic of human development for all reached (0,854 points). As per the 4 main indicators of the report, the Kingdom’s score in the average life expectancy index at birth reached 75.1 years.

- This falls under the 3rd goal of the sustainable development goals adopted by the member states of the United Nations for the 2030 sustainable development plan, and its score in the expected study years index 16.1 years.

- The average years of school study was 10.2 years, reflecting the 4th goal of the sustainable development goals. The report also estimated the per capita share of the gross national product at 47,495,000 US dollars, which reflects the 8th goal of the development goals. - The Human Development Report divides the countries of the world into 4 groups, according to the value of the Human Development Index index. Countries with very high human development when the value of the index is 0.800 or more.

- The group of countries with high human development when the value of the index is between 0,700 to 0,799, and the group of countries with medium human development whose value ranges between 0.550 to 0.699, and countries with low human development where the value of the index is less than 0.550. - Norway came 1st in the world, followed by Ireland, Switzerland, Hong Kong, and Iceland ranked 5th, while the United Kingdom ranked 13, the United States ranked 17, Japan ranked 19, Spain ranked 25, ahead of France, which It is ranked 26th in the world.
