Saudi Arabia launches 'Digital ID (Digital Iqama)' for its Citizens and Expatriates
Saudi Arabia's Interior Ministry represented by Civil Affairs has launched an electronic copy of identity in 'Absher individuals' with name 'Digital ID' under the slogan 'Your Identity with Your Mobile', in cooperation with the Saudi Authority of Data and Artificial Intelligence represented by the National Information Center (NIC).
Saudi citizens and expatriates do not require carrying plastic documents of their identity, residency permit (iqama), driving license and vehicle's registration (istimara), As they can benefit of carrying its digital version through the Absher.
- Expats and citizens can now use Digital ID all the official transactions instead of plastic card. You can download a copy of your Digital iD on your smart phone to take advantage of it, as you can use it without the need of internet connection. - Digital ID or Digital Iqama can be used for showing it to security officials in the field inspection and dealing with transactions of banks, companies, individuals and government agencies, whether it can be in the Kingdom or outside the Kingdom.
- The security officials can verify its reliability through Madian platform, which is a uniform security platform for all fields and security works in various sectors of the Interior Ministry in order to control the violations and organize procedures of handling the cases to the competent authorities in the security sectors electronically.
- Digital Iqama or ID carries all the information as it available on your plastic Iqama or ID card. Digital ID will facilitate the process of verifying the Identity for those who do not carry their original Iqama or ID card.
- Digital iqama will allow beneficiaries to view the ID data electronically through the variable QR code on Absher Individuals application. Read : 6 conditions for issuing Final Exit visa through Absher
- Digital ID will be a turning point in developing the process of electronic transactions of individuals with the relevant sectors in the Ministry of Interior's electronic platform 'Absher Individuals'.
