Public Prosecution in Saudi Arabia warns against stopping Children from Education
The Public Prosecution in Saudi Arabia has stated that, it is right of the child to receive education, including distance learning through dedicated platforms, and warned against anyone causing the child to drop out of a school. The Public Prosecution of the Kingdom said, “The Law on the Protection of Children highlights that causing a child to drop out of education is considered an abuse or neglect, and it is the matter of investigation as a violation of the provisions of this law and it will file a lawsuit against the violators at a competent court, on those who is responsible for it.
- The prosecution also clarified that the definition of child as a human being under the age of 18 years; and the neglect means not denying the child’s basic needs including education.
- “Children are entitled for all the benefits mentioned in the provision of the law in order to protect their right, it is mandatory on the part of the child’s father or guardian or those who undertake the responsibility of guardianship to enroll the child in a school and stop anything that comes against the education of them,” added the Public Prosecution as per the report of Saudi Gazette.
