Decision to regulate Saudization of companies in Communication and IT Sector
The Minister of Human Resources and Social Development of Saudi Arabia, Eng. Ahmed Al Rajhi issued a decision to regulate the Saudization of companies of Communications and Information Technology sector.
The decision stated the abolition of the main activities in the program of incentivizing companies to localize jobs, Nitaqat as of 14th March 2021.
- Under the new regulation, 7 major activities in this sector will come under the Nitaqat Saudization program. It includes operation and maintenance of information technology, operation and maintenance of communications, infrastructure for IT, infrastructure for communications, IT solutions, telecom solutions and mail activities. - The new regulation, which is going to effect from March 14th (1st Shaban) is being implemented as part of existing cooperation between the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and the Human Resources Development Fund, Human Rights Watch and the Council of Saudi Chambers represented by the National Committee for Communications and Information Technology.
- The ministry states that the decision comes to regulate the work of the companies of the important and vital sector, in order to achieve the objectives of Saudization by creating more distinct and decent job opportunities for the sons and daughters of the Saudi Arabia and raising their participation in the labor market and the gross domestic product.
