World's largest Cooling stations in Makkah are ready to serve during Ramadan
Two cooling stations at Makkah's Grand Mosque, which are the largest cooling plants in the world are ready to serve Umrah pilgrims and worshipers during the Holy month of Ramadan.
The first Ajyad cooling station produces 35,300 refrigeration tons of which 24,500 are used. The second cooling station is the new Central station with a capacity of 120,000 tons of refrigeration.
The 2nd station is currently feeding the third Saudi Expansion Project of the Grand Mosque, in addition to half of Mas'a (Area between Safa and Marwa), This station to feed all facilities of the Grand Mosque in future, according to the Saudi Gazette report. - The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques also makes backup cooling stations next to the main cooling stations, in order to control the temperatures in case one of the stations malfunctions as well as to make sure the purity of the air distributed inside the Grand Mosque.
- The AC work and periodic maintenance of cooling system continue in Makkah's Grand Mosque as part of the preparations for the holy month of Ramadan and it coincides with the summer season.
- The assistant director general of the General Department for Operation and Maintenance said the department takes care of air conditioning by cleaning the filters, as they monitored continuously, taking into account of emptying and removal of air from inside the Grand Mosque.

- The air purification filters inside the AC rooms are cleaned on a daily basis throughout the year and replaced when needed, they are subject to careful maintenance and cleaning processes by highly qualified engineering and technical staff.
- These technical teams supervise these works to ensure implementation as per the technical principles followed using the highly advanced technologies.
