Civil Defense calls for not to worry when a loud warning is heard in Makkah region at 2 PM
The General Directorate of Civil Defense announced that Today, Sunday, it will start broadcasting the trial alert in Makkah region at 2 PM, within the specified geographical range for the experimental tests that the Directorate carries out on the national platform for early warning in emergencies.
The directorate said that, we highlighted the importance of updating the operating systems for mobile phones to its latest version, in order to ensure receiving messages and alerts.
- The directorate clarified that the alert is experimental and will be through the cellular broadcast service accompanied by vibration, then a tone and loud sound at 2 pm, in the Makkah Al-Mukarramah region through mobile phones. - The Civil Defense said not to worry, as the messages are to trail the platform, and it does not require any action to takes from the receivers.
- The directorate also called for participation in filling out the questionnaire attached to the text message sent after the end of the experiment.
- The General Directorate of Civil Defense had earlier called on Saudi citizens and resident expats to participate in the evaluation of the trail via the link that will be sent to their phones by SMS, noting the importance of updating the operating systems for mobile phones to the latest version, To ensure that messages and alerts are received, and there is no reason to be panic or be concerned about them, confirming that they will be followed by text messages. - The national platform for early warning in emergencies comes in line with advanced modern technologies, so that the warning is by cellular transmission messages in a specific geographical area to warn its residents of the imminent occurrence of an emergency in the surrounding area, through mobile phones.
