Benefits of decision to Insure Domestic Workers Contracts in Saudi Arabia
The Minister of Human Resources and Social Development of Saudi Arabia, Ahmed bin Sulaiman Al-Rajhi, said that there are many benefits for the employer and the worker, after the Council of Ministers approved the insurance for the domestic worker contract.
He said that among these benefits, compensation to the employer for the expenses of recruiting a replacement domestic worker in the event of death, inability to work, or chronic and critical illness, compensation for the expenses of returning the body, belongings and personal property in the event of the death of the domestic worker, compensation in the event of the death of the domestic worker, worker's absenteeism or absent from work.

- Al-Rajhi pointed out that the decision will achieve many gains such as increasing the attractiveness of the Saudi labor market, facilitating bilateral negotiations with countries, improving the contractual relationship, and reducing risks in the domestic labor market, which will contribute to reducing prices and ensuring rights for all parties, in addition to increasing commitment by the concerned.
- He explained that the recommendations approved by the Council of Ministers include the following:
* Insurance for the domestic worker contract for the first 2years from the date of the contract begins, provided that insurance after that is optional for the employer upon renewing the worker's residency.
* Approving the forms of insurance policy, according to what is stipulated in the Cooperative Insurance Companies Control Law.
* Regulating the steps for issuing the insurance policy, purchasing it, and the procedures for paying its premiums. Recommend : Working Hours as per Saudi Labor Law
- The Minister of Human Resources and Social Development thank and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and his Crown Prince, Council of Ministers for the approval regarding insurance for the domestic worker contract.
