Saudi Arabia's King approves Grand Mosque construction in Pakistan's Islamabad city
Saudi Arabia's King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has approved the construction of a grand mosque named after him at Pakistan's Capital Islamabad's new campus of International Islamic University (IIU).
The planned mosque, which will be at the University's campus, includes a prayer hall for men with 4,000 worshipers capacity and another for women with 2,000 worshipers.
- The project to costs 32 million dollars, it will be located in the H10 sector of the city, covering an area of 41,200 square meters, includes a hall, a library, a museum all named after the King Salman. It also has a conference hall named after Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman, in addition to administrative facilities, a parking lot and additional services. - The area of the prayer hall is 6,800 square meters, the covered balcony of the mosque occupies an area of 600 square meters and the courtyard of 4,500 square meters, while the ablution facilities for men and women occupy an area of 1,000 square meters.
- Library cover an area of 2,800 square meters and the Museum for Islamic History covers an area of 2,200 square meters, while the area of Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman's Conference hall is 2,800 square meters and can accommodate 500 people.
- Exhibition area of the project is to be estimated at 2,200 square meters, the facilities and services of the basement take up an area of 2,800 square meters, bringing the total area of mosque with its vital facilities to 33,000 square meters. - The mosque overlooks an outdoor garden of 8,500 square meters, while a parking space of 7,000 square meters has been allocated, said the report.
