Saudi Arabia bans 'Work under direct Sun' from 15th June to 15th September


The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development in Saudi Arabia announced the start of implementing of the decision to prevent work under the sun from 15th June (Tuesday) until 15th September 2021 (Wednesday).







The Ministry called on employers to organize working hours as specified in the decision, in order to preserve the health and safety of the workers and to avoid violations.

- All companies in the Kingdom should not allow their workers to work under the direct sun from 12 PM to 3 PM, starting from 15th June, 2021 until 15th September 2021. Trending : Groups exempt from attending workplace in public, private and non-profit sectors

- The Ministry explained that this decision comes within the framework of its eagerness to protect the safety and health of the Kingdom workers in the private sector by providing them a secure working environment, away for exposure to any health risks, in accordance with the occupational safety and health considerations.





- However, There will be exemptions in some parts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for outdoor work ban under direct sun, where the temperatures are low in those areas. The branches of Ministry Of Labor coordinating with such regions with regard of taking decision whether to work ban under the sun or not.

- Moreover, This rule is not applicable to workers of oil and gas companies or those engaging in emergency maintenance works. Recommend : Saudi Arabia is set to launch quarterly payments of Iqama and work permits

- In case if anyone's employer is not following the rule, expatriates or citizens can call to the customer service number of the Ministry 19911 for any queries or lodging of complaints about the violations.
