First road linking Saudi Arabia to Sultanate of Oman is set to Open soon


The Ministry of Transport in the Sultanate of Oman announced that it is preparing soon to open the first road linking Saudi Arabia and the Oman, adding that the road is almost complete.







The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology in the Sultanate of Oman, Salem Muhammad Al-Nuaimi, said in an interview with "Oman TV" that, "The first road linking to Saudi Arabia and the Sultanate of Oman will be opened soon," explaining that "the road is almost complete."

- He highlighted that "work is in progress to establish the necessary facilities to provide services to its users," pointing out that "the road will not only cut the distance between the two countries by about 800 km, but will also reduce travel time significantly." - The largest part of the road passes through Saudi Arabia, and extends to some of the most difficult terrain in the world, including the Empty Quarter, as the road passes through the Empty Quarter and Al-Ahsa Governorate in Saudi Arabia, and its length in Oman is about 160 km, while about 580 km of it in the Kingdom.





- The new road passes through the Omani oil fields via the "Tnam" area in the Wilayat of Ibri and connects it with the Empty Quarter in Saudi Arabia, highlighting, "This project is considered an engineering miracle, as it was built through the sands of the largest desert in the world."

- The current and only road that connects Oman to Saudi Arabia is about 1,638 km long, and passes through the United Arab Emirates (UAE), with a journey time of 16 to 18 hours. Join us on Telegram channel
