Violators of Environmental Law to face 10 Years Jail term and 30 million Riyals Fine in Saudi Arabia
The Special Forces for Environmental Security (SFES) in Saudi Arabia renewed the reminder of the heavy penalties in the environmental law, which amounts to a fine of 30 million riyals and imprisonment for 10 years, or one of these two penalties, for violators of the environmental law.
The Environmental Law provides a “10 years imprisonment and a fine of 30 million riyals or one of these two penalties for anyone who commits trade in threaten wildlife and their unoriginal its products, killing or hunting them, repeating the violation of killing live animals prohibited from hunting more than once within a year of committing the first violation.” Trending : Nine countries from where direct entry to Saudi Arabia is not allowed
- The same penalty will also apply in the case of “repeated violation of cutting trees, transporting their soil, shoveling or trading in them more than once within a year of committing the first violation.
- The penalty also applies on throwing or discharging of any of the pollutants resulting from the ballast waters, cargo remains and waste, or disposal of any of the pollutants resulting from the ballast waters, or the remains of cargo and waste, by the means of maritime transport. Hazardous waste in environmental media, or the dumping of any untreated liquid components into an environmental medium. - The Special forces of Environment Security called people to report any cases that represent an attack on the environment or wildlife on 911 number in Makkah and Riyadh regions and on 999 and 996 in other Saudi regions.
