New Istimara (Vehicle Registration) fee to be linked with Fuel Consumption of the Vehicles
Saudi Arabia approved a proposal of Saudi Energy Efficiency Center to fix an annual fee to the cost of Vehicle Registration License (Istimara) with the efficiency of fuel use.
Approval has given to the proposal to set the maximum lifespan of light vehicles and the procedure for the disposal of old vehicles. The Saudi Energy Efficiency Center (SEEC) categorized vehicles into 2 categories for charging the annual fee.
1. Light vehicles made in 2016 and later. Trending : Saudi Airlines to allow only vaccinated passengers for domestic travel from 1st September
2. Light vehicles made in 2015 and earlier and Heavy vehicles.
Levels of Fuel economy classification for Light vehicles made in 2016 and Later :
* Annual fee of 0 Riyals for fuel consumption of 16km per liter or more (300 SR for 3 years Istimara without any additional cost).
* Annual fee of 50 Riyals for fuel consumption of 15.99 km to 14 km per liter ( 300 SR + 150 SR for 3 years = 450 SR)
* Annual fee of 85 Riyals for fuel consumption of 13.99 km to 12 km per liter (300 SR + 255 SR = 555 SR) Recommend : Speeding violations fines in Saudi Arabia
* Annual fee of 130 Riyals for fuel consumption of 11.99 km to 10 km per liter (300 SR + 390 SR = 690 SR for 3 years)
* Annual fee of 190 Riyals for fuel consumption of 10 km per liter or less (300 SR + 570 SR for 3 years = 870 SR)
For Light vehicles made in 2015 and Earlier and Heavy vehicles :
* Annual fee of 0 SR for Engine Capacity of 1.9 L or below (300 SR + 0 SR = 300 SR for 3 years Istimara)
* Annual fee of 50 SR for Engine Capacity of 1.91 L to 2.4 L (300 SR + 150 SR = 450 SR for 3 years Istimara)
* Annual fee of 85 SR for Engine Capacity of 2.41 L to 3.2 L (300 SR + 255 SR = 555 SR for 3 years Istimara)
* Annual fee of 130 SR for Engine Capacity of 3.2 L to 4.5 L (300 SR + 390 SR = 690 SR for 3 years Istimara) See Also : GACA issues circular to all Airlines in Kingdom
* Annual fee of 190 SR for Engine Capacity of 4.5 L or more (300 SR + 570 SR = 870 SR for 3 years Istimara)
Implementation Date of new Istimara Fee :
1. Starting from 2022, It will include new light vehicles manufactured for 2023.
