GACA updates its regulations to deal with Canceled flight tickets during Pandemic
The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) in Saudi Arabia has issued a number of updated regulations to airlines for handling flight tickets that canceled due to the Corona virus pandemic.
The circular was issued with the aim of giving the required flexibility to passengers, maintaining the highest standards of quality and efficiency in services and preserving the traveler's rights. See Also : GACA updates entry procedures for Expats and Visitors
- The new circular specifies the airlines who have canceled the flight due to Corona pandemic must address the situations of passengers as follow.
1. If the traveler aims to cancel the ticket, the cost of the ticket (unused itinerary) will be returned to the traveler as per the payment method.
2. In case of issuing the exchange ticket to the travelers, the passenger have the choice to either reuse, or redeem it. As per the traveler's wish, without paying any additional amounts, or fees in exchange for re-use, or redemption.
3. If the traveler wants to reschedule his flight, this does not need collecting any additional cost or fees, if they are on the same route. If the traveler requests a change in route, the airline can collect the required fare difference only without adding any other fees for the purpose of rescheduling or issuing.
