Pakistan's PM Imran Khan ousted from power after losing no-confidence vote in Parliament
The Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan has been ousted from power after losing a no-confidence vote in his leadership, as opposition parties were able to secure 174 votes of the 342 member National Assembly in support of the no-confidence motion against him.
The vote was held midnight last night after opposition parties brought a motion against Imran Khan, which was upheld by the Supreme Court.
- Ayaz Sadiq, who was chairing the session of the National Assembly has announced that 174 members have recorded their votes in favor of the resolution, consequently the resolution for the vote no-confidence against Imran Khan has been passed by majority. - The Supreme Court ruled on Thursday that Imran Khan had acted unconstitutionally when he blocked the no-confidence vote and dissolved parliament. Which made several opposition members furious, with few accusing the prime minister of disloyalty.
- Minutes before the voting began, National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser along with Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri resigned from their positions. During the voting members of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) were not present.

- The assembly will now appoint a new prime minister for Pakistan. That person to hold power until October 2023, when the next election is due to be held.
- Meanwhile, Imran Khan had said he would not recognize an opposition government, claiming without evidence, that there was a US-led conspiracy to remove him, for his refusal to stand with Washington on issues against Russia and China. He repeatedly said the opposition parties are working with foreign powers.
