Expat workers arrested in Saudi Arabia for tampering Fuel stations meter readings
Expat workers arrested for tampering with gas station meter readings, they will be sent to security authorities for deportation and will not be allowed to re-enter the Kingdom, said a joint statement of three government departments. Similar : Deported expat can return to Saudi Arabia only on these two visas
The Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Energy and the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) inspected several fuel stations and spotted illegal practices at some stations after it reported to the Ministry of Commerce by few consumers.
- On performing accuracy testing of gasoline dispensers, it was found that certain workers had retrieved old gas pump meter readings and modified them to the highest pricing. See Also : Saudi Arabia signs with Lucid company to purchase about 100,000 electric cars
- The inspection was conducted after the reports and videos posted on social media websites revealing certain workers tinkering gas pump meter readings.
- The last 10 reading of the gas pump meters can be retrieved for accounting purposes in case of any complaints or reports. In order to protect the interests of consumers, SASO's National Metrology Program (TAQYEES) will look at codifying this feature in coordination with gas pump manufacturers.
- The ministries of commerce and energy in collaboration with SASO, also listed that inspections of specific gas stations in the Eastern and Jeddah regions and are continuing to discover such violations. Trending : Jeddah Season continues its activities with large group of crowds
- The government departments restated their commitment to protecting customers rights and responding to complaints and reports through the Commercial Violation Application and call at 1900 or at ministry's website.
