Passengers to be compensated from Airlines for the lost, damage or delay of Luggage - GACA
The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) in Saudi Arabia has imposed a financial compensation on airlines, if they delay or lost or damage passenger's luggage. The Airline is required to compensate the customer within 30 days from the date of receiving compensation claim. Follow Saudi Expatriates on Twitter
GACA further explained that the air carrier must compensate each customer holding a ticket with a minimum of 1,820 Saudi Riyals and not more than 6,000 riyals for the loss, damage or delay of luggage.
- Passengers who wants to raise the level of compensation as his luggage contains valuable or high value items must disclose to the airline of their presence and its value before boarding the flight. Recommend : Circular from GACA, regarding cash, jewelry and precious metals at Saudi Airports
- Customers must be compensate in case of their luggage was delayed, equivalent to 104 riyals for each day of delay and a maximum of 520 riyals for domestic flights, stated GACA.
- While for international flights, customers must be compensated with equivalent of 208 riyals for each day of delay and a maximum of 1,040 riyals, upon receiving delayed luggage, added GACA. See Also : Flight cancellation compensation in Saudi Arabia
- The General Authority of Civil Aviation explained that the additional pieces must be issued with an identification card by the air carrier and with a separate fee.
