5 penalties for those who trades a food item that is harmful to Health - Public Prosecution
The Public Prosecution in Saudi Arabia warned against deliberately causing the circulation of harmful, adulterated or prohibited foodstuffs, whether raw, fresh, processed or semi-processed, stating that 5 penalties including imprisonment for up to 10 years to be imposed on them. Food is everything that is prepared for human consumption, whether it is raw, fresh, processed or semi-processed, it must be safe and free from any dangerous or harmful sources during the stages of food chain until it reaches the consumer, and any practices regarding its safety are among the major crimes that needs arrest. The Saudi Public Prosecution confirmed that it is prohibited to deliberately cause the circulation of foodstuffs harmful to health, altered or prohibited, noting that it is a crime and penalties for such crimes are as follow.
* Jail term of up to 10 years.
* A fine of up to 10 million riyals.
* Prevents the violator from practicing any food business.
* Publication of final judgement at the expense of the convict, after investigation and prosecution.
