Is it possible to travel outside Saudi Arabia with a vehicle owned by others? Moroor response
The General Directorate of Traffic (Moroor) in Saudi Arabia clarified the conditions for issuing an external authorization on vehicles owned by individuals, Saudi citizens and resident expatriates. Join Jeddah Expatriates whatsapp group
This came in response from Saudi Moroor to one of the inquiry on Twitter, who asked, "Peace be Upon you, My car is on a Saudi national name, Is it possible to get an authorization to travel outside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia"? - Saudi Moroor said that, External authorization is required in order to travel on it outside the Kingdom. Moroor also clarified the terms of the authorization in the following.
- Authorization can be issued online through Ministry of Interior portal for vehicles of a private type only. While for the rest of other types of vehicles, like taxis, buses and public transports, it is currently done through Traffic department.
* Vehicle's registration license must be valid including its insurance. Recommend : Procedure to sell the car of those who are outside Saudi Arabia
* Authorized person and his records must be free of traffic violations.
* Valid driving license.
* Duration of external authorization must not be more than 6 months.
* Issuance of authorization is free.
