Only small quantities of Imported items allowed for Individuals - Saudi ZATCA
The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) in Saudi Arabia explained that individuals are allowed to import goods for a personal nature in small quantities only and it is not allowed quantities that are suppose for commercial purposes. Join Saudi Expatriates Telegram channel
The authority said that the level of the quantity that individuals can bring or import will be determined by the concerned customs inspector at the port.
- The ZATCA confirmed that people can have the information on the detailed procedures of customs that will be applied on imported goods by following the link https://zatca.gov.sa/en/RulesRegulations/Taxes/Pages/Integrated-Tarrifs.aspx
- This came in response to a queries by individuals about the extent to which a commercial registry is required to import goods from abroad. Read : Travelers must disclose their financial value exceeding the permissible limit
- The regulations of importing goods and personal items fall under several categories mostly,
* The owner of the imported shipment for personal use must present his iqama, passport or identity card to fulfill the custom process.
* The owner of the imported shipment must translate the invoices and documents into Arabic.
* It is not allowed to import goods that are prohibited internationally or locally or that are subject to global agreements and treaties in force and local regulations. See Also : Individuals are allowed to import only 10 liters of energy drinks
* The counterfeit and fraudulent goods or those that are in violation of the approved specification or intellectual property rights are also prohibited.
- The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority explained the documents that must be attached with the customs declaration are, detailed original invoice, original certificate of origin, delivery authorization and the bill of loading a ship with cargo, reported Saudi Gazette.
