Penalties for committing intentional Traffic accidents in Saudi Arabia - Traffic Safety
A member of the Traffic Safety Committee in Saudi Arabia, Saleh Al-Ghamdi revealed the penalty for intentional traffic accidents. Read : Is it possible to travel outside Saudi Arabia in a vehicle owned by others?
During his interview with Al-Ekhbariya, Al-Ghamdi said that the penalty for committing the violation of the intentional traffic accident is a fine of up to 200,000 riyals and a jail term of up to 4 years.
- He continued stating that, In case of a person suffers severe injury, which means the person stays in the hospital for 15 days, then the financial fine does not exceed 100,000 riyals and imprisonment does not exceed 2 years or both. - In case of the person losing a part of the body or death, the sentence is up to 4 years in prison and a fine of up to 200,000 riyals or both the penalties, Al-Ghamdi added.
- According to the emergency medicine consultant, Abdul Salam Al-Shehri, there are 162,000 traffic accidents in Saudi Arabia, 78% of which are due to use of mobile phone while driving.
- AL-Shehri confirmed that in the year 1439 AH, over 162,000 traffic accidents occurred in Saudi Arabia and 78% of them are due to the use of mobile phones while driving, highlighting that concentration of the brain while driving decreases by 37%, when sending a message from the mobile phone.
