More freedom to Domestic Workers on Job transfers in Saudi Arabia, after adding 2 more scenarios


Recently, Saudi Arabia adopted notable changes to labor regulations, clarifying on the situations allowing the domestic workers to change their employers independently without the approval of the current employer. Join Saudi Expatriates channel on imo app







These comes in line with the context of wide ranging reforms under Saudi Vision 2030. Earlier, A ministerial decision had set up 10 cases in which domestic worker's allowed to transfer their job without current employer approval, which includes non-payment of salaries. Now, two more cases added into the list of domestic workers transfer without kafeel approval as per Saudi Gazette and they are

* If the employer transfers the domestic worker's service to a different employer without the worker's permission.

* When the labor contract terminated by the employer during the probation period.





- According to the President of Human Rights Commission and Chairman of the National Committee to Combat Trafficking in Persons, Dr. Awwad Alawwad, these reforms under Saudi Vision 2030 are an example of a carefully crafted policy that gives millions of expat workers in Saudi Arabia with increased job transfer, freedom of movement and enhanced labor rights under the Saudi Law. - The Human Rights Commission (HRC) in its statement said the implementation of these remarkable reforms also reflects Saudi Arabia's long-standing attentiveness to the global community.




- The strongest sign of this international engagement is when, running parallel to the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development's efforts to enhance labor regulations, the HRC continues working every day with its partners at the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and the International Organization for Migration to enhance the Saudi Arabia's anti-trafficking measures and further protect to both Saudi nationals and expat workers from human rights violations and trafficking practices.

- Our focus will remain on protecting people while supporting the implementation of reforms that will help Saudi Arabia to achieve all ambitious objectives, added the Human Rights Commission moving forward with Saudi Vision 2030 and the national transformation.
