Human Resources Minister approves Work Conditions for Security Guards
The Minister of Human Resources and Social Development of Saudi Arabia, Eng. Ahmed Al-Rajhi issued a decision approving the work environment conditions for the security guards in the Kingdom. Like and Follow Saudi Expatriates on Facebook
As per the terms and conditions issued by the HR Minister, security guards will not allowed to work for 5 continuous hours without a period for rest, prayer and food, stating that the break is not less than half an hour at a time.
- It is also necessary to provide uniforms for the security guard in the company and shall comply with what was said in the procedural manual for occupational safety and health to prevent the effects of exposure to sun and heat stress. - The new rules and regulations will be applicable on establishments and companies that are engaged in employing security guards directly or indirectly in the private sector. These terms and conditions are also mandatory for companies hiring private civil security guards or those firms that directly employ security guards.
- According to the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, the Security Guard's work environment has been divided into 3 categories.
1. The internal environment, that is inside commercial complexes and the similar like banks
2. The external environment, which is outside building that are exposed to violate climatic conditions and
3. Remote areas, where companies are under construction and that are far from urbanization. Most Viewed : Public sector employees are not allowed to open commercial registry or engage in private work
- The new Terms and Conditions also specified a set of physical equipment that the company owner must provide and they may differ one company to another as per the work environment of the security guards concerned.
- Al-Rajhi's decision aims to contribute to raise the quality of work in the security guards, raising the productivity of its workers, enhancing the sector's attractiveness and the stability of workers in security guard jobs, reports Saudi Gazette.
- The Ministry called on all private sector establishment to comply with these regulations, with a period of not more than 180 days from the date of publishing this decision on the Ministry's website. The Ministry also highlighted that it will take all necessary measures in order to make sure compliance and slap penalties on companies violating the ministry's regulations.
