Implementation of new policy and activation of updated Insurance coverage limits
The Council of Health Insurance (CHI) in Saudi Arabia announced the start of the implementation of new insurance policy, activating the benefit of the benefits package, updated insurance, coverage limits and the insurance medicine guide.
The Council explained that the implementation of the new document began on 1st October, the benefit package, updated insurance coverage limits and the insurance drug guide were also activated, which consists of adding new benefits with the aim of protecting beneficiaries, reducing complications of diseases, ease of access to the services. - The new policy is to enhance quality, efficiency and developing local content, in addition to the updated document adopted after an extensive study with the participation of all stakeholders, during which several workshops took place in which all parties to the insurance relationship participated, including insurance companies, health service providers and employers, in response to what the Council monitored of the needs of health insurance beneficiaries.
- The spokesman of the Council of Health Insurance, Executive Director of Empowerment and Supervision, Dr. Nasser Al-Juhani explained that the start of work with the benefits package, the updated insurance coverage limits and the insurance drug guide will contribute significantly to increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of work in the sector. - Al-Juhani revealed that the updated document included improvements in a number of benefits during the previous period, including the inclusion of kidney transplantation and coverage of some preventive services like period and exploratory tests, which included early screening for breast cancer, colon cancer and diabetes tests.
- He explained that the amendments to the coverage limits also included increasing the upper limit for entitlements to cover mental health cases, raising the upper limit for dialysis cases, in addition to raising the coverage limit for major companies policy to 1 million riyals, concluding his speech by confirming that these updates aim to achieve many of the goals that the most important of which is to improve the health of the beneficiaries and to ensure effective insurance coverage for them.
