Within 1 week, Saudi Arabia arrested over 17,000 foreigners for violating Labor, Residency and Border regulations
The Ministry of Interior in Saudi Arabia announced the arrest of over 17,000 violators of the labor, residency and border security regulations, from all over the Kingdom, within the last week, stating that the penalty for undercover work is up to 15 years jail term and a fine of 1 million riyals. The Ministry of Interior through its official statement on Twitter stated that the joint field campaigns, during the period from 20th to 26th October, 2022, resulted in the following results.
- The total number of violators who were arrested in joint security field inspections in all regions of the Kingdom amounted to 17,255 violators, of them 9,763 violators are of the residence law, 4,911 violators are of the border security law, and 2,581 violators are of the labor law. - A total of 585 people were arrested while trying to cross the border into the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, 48% of them are Yemeni nationals, 49% are Ethiopians, and 3% are of other nationalities.
- In addition, 157 people were arrested for attempting to cross the border out of the Kingdom in an irregular manner. While 23 people involved in transporting, harboring and operating violators of residency, work and border security regulations and covering them up were arrested.

- Referring 42,113 violators to their diplomatic missions to process their travel documents, referring 2,312 violators to complete their travel reservations, and deporting 10,034 violators.
- The Ministry of Interior specified the penalties, stating that whoever facilitates the entry of violators of the border security law into the Kingdom, or transports them within it, or provides them with shelter, or provides them with any help or service in any way, exposes himself to the penalties of up to 15 years imprisonment, and a fine of up to one million riyals, seizure of the means of transportation and housing used for shelter, in addition to defamation thereof.
- The Interior Ministry explained that this crime is one of the major crimes that requires arrest, and violate honor and honesty, calling everyone to report any violation cases to the number 911 in the regions of Makkah Al-Mukarramah, Riyadh and the Eastern, and 999 and 996 in the rest of the Kingdom.
