King Salman calls for Rain-Seeking prayers all over the Kingdom on Thursday


The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, Saudi Arabia's King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud called for the performance of rain-seeking (Salat-Al-Istisqa) prayers all over the Kingdom on Thursday, 23rd Rabi Al-Akhir 1444 AH (17th November 2022), following the Sunnah of the Prophet Mohammed (Peace Be Upon Him). According to the statement released by the Royal Court in Saudi Arabia, "Everyone should increase their repentance, seeking forgiveness, returning to God Almighty, doing good to His servants, and increasing the number of supererogatory acts of obedience like alms, prayers and remembrances and making it easier for the servants of God and relieving their distress".

- The statement from the Royal court continued stating, "May God release us and facilitate what we hope for. Every able person should be keen to perform the prayer, as per the Sunnah of the Messenger of God, and to demonstrate the need for God Almighty, with urgency in supplication, God loves from his servants a lot of supplication and urgency in it". - "We ask God Almighty to have mercy on the country and the servants, and to respond to the situation of His servants, and to make what He sends down a mercy for them and enjoyment for a while", said the statement.





What is Salat-Al-Istisqa?

Salat Al-Istisqa is a rain-seeking prayer, it is offered in 2 rakah sunnah prayer, it is similar to Eid prayer, where there is no Adhaan or Iqamah for this prayer, Imam says the takbeer 7 times in the first rakah after initiating takbeer, and 5 takbeers in the second rakah, apart from the one while standing up from the prostration.
