Saudi Arabia arrested 16,493 illegal expats with in one week


The Ministry of Interior in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia announced the arrest of 16,493 violators of the labor, residency and border security regulations, from all over the country, within the last week, stating that the penalty for undercover work is up to 15 years imprisonment and a fine of 1 million riyals. The Interior Ministry through its official statement on Twitter handle said that the joint field campaigns, during the period from 3rd to 9th November, 2022, resulted in the following results.

- The total number of violators who were arrested in joint security field inspections in all the regions of the Kingdom amounted to 16,493 violators, of them 9,441 violators are of the residence law, 4,580 violators are of the border security law, and 2,72 violators are of the Saudi labor law. - A total of 480 expatriates were arrested while trying to cross the border into Saudi Arabia, of them 63% are Yemeni nationals, 33% are Ethiopians, and 4% are of other nationalities.





- In addition, 480 expats were arrested for attempting to cross the border out of the Kingdom in an irregular manner. While 15 people involved in transporting, harboring and operating violators of residency, work and border security regulations and covering them up were arrested.

- The total of those who are currently subjected to the procedures for implementing the regulations reached 54,111 violators,  of them 49,811 are males, and 4,300 are females. Trending : MHRSD reveals 13 examples of Human Trafficking

- Referring 43,475 violators to their diplomatic missions to process their travel documents, referring 2,675 violators to complete their travel reservations, and deporting 9,070 violators.




- The Ministry of Interior in Saudi Arabia specified the penalties, stating that whoever facilitates the entry of violators of the border security system into the Kingdom, or transports them within it, or provides them with shelter, or provides them with any assistance or service in any way, exposes himself to the penalties of up to 15 years jail term, and a fine of up to 1 million riyals, seizure of the means of transportation and housing used for shelter, in addition to defamation thereof.

- The Ministry further said that this crime is one of the major crimes which requires arrest, and violates honor and honesty, calling all to report any violation cases to the number 911 in the regions of Makkah, Riyadh and the Eastern regions, and 999 and 996 for the rest of the regions of the Kingdom.
