Saudi Arabia ranks first in the world in list of donor countries in providing Humanitarian and Development Aid
The Advisor at the Saudi Royal court and General Supervisor of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Rabeeah confirmed that Saudi Arabia topped in the list of donor countries in providing official development assistance (humanitarian and developmental) to low and middle income countries with an amount of 26.71 billion Saudi Riyals (7.12 billion US dollars). This came on last week, as per the data of the Development Assistant Committee (DAC), the Organization of Economic Co-operation and Development (OCED), which shows the official development assistance provided by donor countries in 2021, as the committee is the largest forum for donor countries and is based in the Paris, the capital of French.
Al-Rabeeah explained that this aid constitutes 1.05% of the Kingdom's gross national income, stating that, with this percentage, Saudi Arabia has topped the donor countries and exceed the goal approved by the United Nations General Assembly, which was for donor countries to allocate 0.7% of their national income. - He highlighted that, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center is working hard and tireless to register the Kingdom's humanitarian and development aid in the Saudi aid platform launched by King Salman in the year 2018.
- Where the aid is documented in cooperation with the relevant Saudi ministries and agencies in order to point out the Saudi Arabia's humanitarian and development identity. Al-Rabeeah appreciated the great efforts made by the authorities in documenting and recording the assistance provided by the Kingdom to the people and countries of the world through international platforms as per the internationally approved standards. - He added that, the orders of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Prince Mohammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, contributed to this great achievement, which placed Saudi Arabia at the top of international humanitarian work will all merit.
- Al-Rabeeah further explained that, Saudi Arabia has been throughout its history and is still a giving country that extends its hands of goodness to help the distressed and provide relief to the needy wherever they are, and it continues on the same noble approach that embodies the established values of the wise leadership of Kingdom and its generous people.
