This comes in line with the Vision of UAE leadership, the country's strategy and future aspirations and coinciding with the celebration of the 51st Union Day.
- The new banknote of 1,000 dirhams will be available in the Central Bank branches and ATMS in the first half of the year 2023, and the current 1,000 dirham banknote will continue to be in circulation, as it is a guaranteed value banknote by law. - The issuance of a new banknote in the category of 1,000 dirhams, which is the 4th in the series of the project for the 3rd issuance of the national currency, came within the framework of the Central Bank's approach for developing the financial sector in the UAE.
- In the design of new banknote of 1,000 dirhams, the UAE Central Bank was keen to embody the spirit of the union and the success story of the UAE, with cultural and developmental images and symbols that reflect the pioneering global achievement of the country, which strengthened its position to be in the ranks of developed countries within a record period of time.
- The front side of the new 1,000 dirhams banknote is adorned with the image of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, next to a model of space shuttle, which was inspired by the meeting of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan in 1976, to express the ambition of the founding leader for the UAE to be one of the pioneers of space exploration. - The bank continues its policies and approach towards sustainability by issuing the banknote in the category of 1,000 dirhams made of polymer, which is one of the modern materials in the manufacture of banknotes, as it is more durable and sustainable than traditional banknotes, by 2 or more times. It is also fully recyclable, thus reducing its environmental impact.
- In order to improve consumer confidence and combat fraud, the new banknotes is set by advanced security features with modern technologies used for the first time in the Europe, Middle East and Africa regions, as well as multi-colored security foil technology, called KINEGRAM COLORS, to be the UAE the first country in the Middle East region to use the largest foil tape of its type in the banknotes.
