Saudi Arabia arrested 14,740 expats on violations of Residency, Border and Security regulations


The Ministry of Interior in Saudi Arabia announced that the joint field campaigns to follow up and control the violators of residency, work and border security regulations, which took place in all regions of the Kingdom, from 29th December 2022 until 4th January 2023, resulted in the arrest of 14,740 violators. The Ministry added that, Of the total 14,740 violators, 8,058 violators are of the residency law, 4,283 violators of the border security law, and 2,399 violators of the work law.

- A total of 832 people were caught while trying to cross the border into the Kingdom, 53% of them were Yemenis, 44% were Ethiopians, and 3% were of other nationalities. - While 15 persons involved in transporting, harboring and operating violators of residency, work and border security regulations and covering them up were arrested.





- The total number of people who are currently subject to the procedures for implementing the regulations is 34,103 expatriates in violation, Of them, 32,468 are men and 1,635 are women.

- 24,440 violators were referred to their diplomatic missions to obtain travel documents, 2,600 violators were referred to complete their travel reservations, and 11,762 violators were deported. See Also : No specific color is required for women's veil, while issuing id card

- The Ministry of the Interior confirmed that anyone who facilitates the entry of violators of the border security law to the Kingdom, or transfers them within it, or provides them with shelter or provides them with any assistance or service in any way, exposes himself to penalties of up to 15 years in prison, a fine of up to 1 million riyals, and confiscation of the means of transportation and housing used for shelter, in addition to defamation of it.




- The Interior Ministry explained that this crime is considered as one of the major crimes that require arrest and violates honor and trust, calling that any violation cases be reported to the number 911 in the regions of Makkah Al-Mukarramah, Riyadh and the Eastern Province, and 999 and 996 in the rest of the Kingdom’s regions.
