3 penalties for the Self-Employed expat in Saudi Arabia
The General Directorate of Passports (Jawazat) in Saudi Arabia revealed the legally prescribed penalties for a violating self-employed expatriate or working for his own account in the Kingdom.
Saudi Jawazat through its official Twitter handle specified 3 penalties for an expat who works for his own account or for self-employed and they are,
1. A fine of up to 50,000 Saudi Riyals.
2. Jail term for a period of up to 6 months.

Jawazat in Saudi Arabia called on everyone to report violators of the Residency and Border Security regulations at 911 for the Makkah, Riyadh and Eastern Province regions and on 999 for the rest of the regions of the Kingdom.
Fine and Imprisonment for the Employer :
Earlier this, Jawazat confirmed that, an employer who leaves his workers to work for their own account or for sums of money they pay him (In the name of Azad Visa or Free Visa). Such employers will be punished with a fine of 5,000 riyals and imprisonment for a month, for the second time the fine will reach 20,000 riyals and jail term for 2 months and third time a fine of 50,000 riyals and imprisonment for 3 months.
- In every case, the fine will be multiplied by each number of workers against whom the violation recorded and the violating expat will be deported at his own expense and the denial of the recruitment for the purpose of work for a period of not less than a year for 1st time, two years for the 2nd time and three years for the 3rd time.
- In case a resident expat works for a non-employer or works for his own account will be deported to his country and an expat worker employs another expat worker for the benefit of an employer other than the original employer, if the employer is expat, he shall be punished 5,000 riyals for the first time or imprisonment for a period of 1 month or both together, for the second time, fine is 10,000 riyals or with jail term of one month or both and for the third time, a fine of 20,000 riyals or jail term for 3 months or both.
