Al-Ula is among the 7 wonders of the World for the Year 2023
Al-Ula is an ancient oasis town in north-western Saudi Arabia and it is considered from one achievement and dazzling to another. Where it was chosen among 7 wonders of the World, as per the British Magazine, which specializes in the field of travel and tourism. A mirror of civilizations, northwest of Kingdom, over 200,000 years old, within a geographical entity that bears a history with bold evidence, cultural assets and human creativity from the depth of history.
- According to the British Magazine, until recently, Al-Ula was not known, but it has become world famous, because of its story, history, legacy and antiquities, most of which have not been unveiled as of Today. Recommend : Winter at Tantora festival in Al Ula
- Al-Ula includes historical and human landmarks, including the site of "Al-Hijr", which was built by the creations of the Nabatean civilization, and the site was recorded as the first world heritage site on the list of UNESCO in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
- The Magazine also covered on the Al-Ula old town, which was recently ranked among the best tourist villages in the world in the year 2022, as per the selection criteria that recognize tourist villages that adopt tourism as an engine for development, support the creation of jobs and are committed to innovation and sustainability in all its economic and social and environmental elements.
- The magazine report also touched on the Maraya hall, which reflects the picturesque nature of Al-Ula. Where the design took the form of a cube, the outer walls of which were completely covered with mirrors, to be an architectural extension of the charming nature of Al-Ula. which has inspired architects, artists and innovators for centuries. Which made the Maraya hall to obtain a Guinness certificate for records as the largest building covered with mirrors in the world.
- Al-Ula lies at the edge of a fertile alluvial fan, and has a population of more than 11,000 people. Al-Ula was once the capital city of the Kingdom of Lihyan, founded by Lihyans around 500 BCE and became an important stop on the Frankincense Trail for travelers going to Petra.
- Today it is a popular tourist destination due to its many historical monuments and sites from antiquity. The most famous attraction is Hegra (formerly Mada'in Saleh), which features several well-preserved tombs from the Nabatean kingdom and first century CE Roman period.
