Exemption of Mobile devices from Custom duties in Saudi Arabia
The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) in Saudi Arabia on Saturday, restated the priority of excluding mobile devices from custom duties in the Kingdom.
The ZATCA authority through its official Twitter handle stated that, a maximum of two mobile devices are allowed to be imported.
- The authority further explained that, the mobile devices are exempt from Custom Duties and a Value Added Tax (VAT) of 15% is applied to all imports. See Also : Alcohol is prohibited to be sold in duty-free shops in Saudi Arabia
- This came in response to an inquiry received by ZATCA on its Ask Zakat, Tax and Customs Twitter handle, in which one of the user said, I asked for a mobile phone from China, so will it have fees other than VAT?
- Earlier, the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority outlined the conditions under which those with disabilities are excluded from paying customs duties while importing vehicles.
- The ZATCA explained that, "When importing vehicles from outside the Kingdom, people with disabilities are exempt from customs duties as long as the vehicles are fitted out and ready for people with special needs, and are operated by the hands rather than the legs." - The authority added, VAT of 15% will be applied on all imports.
- This came as response to a question received by the authority on its Twitter account, Ask Zakat, Tax and Customs, from a user, which included other categories of people with special needs, if they import an ordinary vehicle for their personal use?
