According to the General Food Security Authority, the initiative's launch is a result of the authority's work to promote reasonable consumption habits, increase public awareness of the value of food security, and encourage the adoption of solutions that help reduce food waste.
- The ratio of food loss and waste is approximately 33% in the Kingdom, and the annual cost of food waste is estimated to be 40 billion riyals in Saudi Arabia, according to the findings of the baseline study.
