Arrest warrant issued by Iraqi Judiciary against Holy Qur'an burner in Sweden
The Supreme Judicial Council of Iraq on Thursday, issued an arrest warrant against Salwan Momika, an Iraqi man, who last month burned a copy of the Holy Qur'an in the capital of Sweden, Stockholm. See Also : Saudi Arabia summoned Sweden Ambassador in response to the burning of Hoy Qur'an
To the Arab and International Police Directorate, we enclose herewith the information bulletin and the arrest warrant for the accused, Salwan Sabah Matti Momika, to pursue him outside Iraq for the charge assigned to him in accordance with the provisions of Article (1)/372) of the Iraqi Penal Code, according to a memorandum issued by the Supreme Judicial Council in Iraq and addressed to the Ministry of Interior.

- On the first day of Eid al-Adha, a Swedish citizen burned the Holy Qur'an in front of Stockholm's largest mosque. Iraq had requested that Sweden turn over the man so that he might be punished in accordance with local law.
- "The person who insulted the Holy Qur'an is an Iraqi," said Ahmed Al-Sahhaf, a spokesman for the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
