Kuwait takes Legal action against a Tweeter for insulting Saudi Arabia
Legal action has been taken by Kuwaiti security authorities against a tweeter who is being investigated for allegedly using social media to insult the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Follow Saudi Expatriates on Linkedin
In a press release issued on Saturday, the General Directorate of Security Relations and Media at the Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior stated that it does not tolerate abuse and will deal strongly with anyone attempting to damage the relationship between Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.
- The directorate added that the issue was reported to the appropriate authority so they may take the required legal action against the accused in regards to what was posted on various social media platforms by a tweeter who insulted one of Saudi Arabia's symbols. - In the statement, it was made clear that the ministry would not tolerate verbal or physical abuse and would act harshly with anyone who violated through social media or other channels.
- The ministry underlined its commitment to preserving the depth of the long-standing historical ties between Saudi Arabia and Kuwait and urged everyone to refrain from releasing or spreading any information that would interfere in the internal affairs of other nations.
- The violator has been directed to spend 3 weeks in custody by the Public Prosecution of the State of Kuwait. After the posting of two tweets through his Twitter social media account and for the improper use of a electronic communication, for accusing him of carrying out an attack against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. - The accused was questioned by the Kuwaiti Public Prosecution, who obtained an admission from him that he had published the contents of the two tweets. The investigation is now complete.
