Hefty fines for Smoking, Spitting and Inappropriate behavior in Sports Stadiums of Saudi Arabia

The Saudi Football Federation's Board of Directors adopted these strict restrictions as part of the most recent revisions to the disciplinary and ethics rules, and it started to take effect from 11th August, 2023.

- Clubs have been given a defined framework of consequences for non-compliance in addition to these specific breaches. Clubs who violate certain federation requirements run the risk of being demoted to the lowest league tier.
- In addition, clubs will be held financially responsible for any improper behavior displayed by their supporters. Regardless of whether the club took precautionary steps or not, fines for such behavior ranges from 10,000 to 100,000 riyals.
- Numerous additional offenses have also been distinctly defined. Fines of 10,000 to 100,000 riyals can be imposed for violent acts, destruction of stadium property, or endangering fans by tossing fireworks or other hazardous things. The federation strictly forbids acts of racism on the property of stadiums and fines violators a hefty fine of 200,000 riyals. Any defamation of the Saudi Federation will result in an SR80,000 fine. - Another focus of the updated regulations is media interactions. Press interactions that are inappropriate or deceptive, especially those that influence public opinion, might result in fines of up to SR100,000. A fine of SR200,000 is imposed for falsifying sports-related paperwork, which carries its own heavy price tag. A player who is determined to have engaged in such dishonest behavior will be suspended for at least six months.
- The rules also outline the significance of post-game obligations. A warning will be given to coaches or players who refuse to show up for their obligation to participate in news conferences or meetings after games.
