Rights of Passengers regulations comes into force in Saudi Arabia

Starting November 20, 2023, the Regulations for the Protection of Travelers Rights will come in effect. These regulations protect travelers rights by including thirty articles that say things like giving travelers refreshments, food, hotel stays, and transportation for flights that are delayed for more than 6 hours, as well as giving them money equal to about 750 riyals. The rights also include getting 6,500 riyals in compensation if your luggage is delayed or lost. This will be split into 740 riyals for the first day of delay and 300 Saudi riyals for each day after that, up to a maximum of 6,568 riyals if your luggage is delayed.

- The list has 30 rules that protect the traveler's right to care, support, and compensation if their flight is early, late, or canceled, or if they are refused to board because of overbooking or being moved to a lower class. Some travelers can get between 150% and 200% of the value of their ticket as compensation. Travelers are also promised compensation, if a stopping point was added that wasn't mentioned when the ticket was made.

- In the new rules, the rights and special needs of disabled people are taken into account. The rules also protect tourists rights in case of an accident while traveling, including seasonal Umrah and Hajj trips. See Also : GACA new regulations to protect the rights of passengers

- The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) stated that the new rule to protect travelers rights has come into effect. This rule will affect millions of travelers and spells out their rights and responsibilities. With the goal of making air travel better and making it easier to get to and from airports in the Kingdom and within the Kingdom itself.

- The authority said on August 23 that it would be putting out new rules to protect the rights of passengers. These rules would replace the executive rules that were in place before to protect the rights of customers. The rules say that they become law 90 days after they are published, which is on November 20, 2023.

- The General Authority of Civil Aviation started a campaign called "The Traveler First" to raise awareness at the same time that the rule went into effect. To teach passengers about their rights and the rules that protect them in case of any sudden problems or challenges they may face during their flights. To also help them understand how to handle these situations and the money that is available to them. Read : Musaned platform resumes domestic workers insurance

- During its campaign, the Authority stressed the procedures that travelers must take if they experience any problems, such as delays, canceled flights, or other issues. To make sure they get all of their rights, the authority told that the traveler should first call the airline and if they don't respond within 7 days, traveler should file a complaint with the General Authority of Civil Aviation to take the action against the airline.

- Engineer Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Dahmash, Vice President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation for Quality and Traveler Experience, said, "Starting Monday, travelers to and from the Kingdom enjoy unprecedented means of protection, guaranteeing their rights to face any problems resulting from the delay or cancellation of flights." He also urged travelers to take advantage of the Authority's "Traveler First" campaign launched by GACA, to learn the full provisions of the regulations and how to claim their rights.

- Al-Dahmash also said that the new rules show that the authority wants to live up to the slogan "The Traveler First" by making sure that tourists have a safe and easy trip and get services that meet international standards. We're helping to reach the goals of the National Aviation Strategy and make flying in the kingdom better by passing this rule. Recommend : Is it possible to extend Re-Entry visa after it expires

- The new rules include thirty articles that make sure travelers get care, support, and compensation if there are any problems with their flight, like if it is delayed, canceled, or the passengers are refused to board because the flight is overbooked or downgraded, or if the flight stops at any new point. Points that were not planned, damage to or loss of luggage.

- The General Authority of Civil Aviation asked the public and anyone else who was interested to give their thoughts and ideas on the draft regulation. The draft regulation was made public through the "Estalaa" platform of the National Competitiveness Center in May of last year. This was done to make sure that the regulation is correct and in line with best practices around the world, as well as to make sure that it meets the needs and wants of travelers. Their needs before the Authority announced in August of last year that the regulation would be made public.

- As part of the General Authority of Civil Aviation's plan to make the Kingdom a global aviation hub and the Saudi aviation sector the best in the Middle East, the regulation was released. This is part of the National Aviation Strategy's efforts to reach its goals, which include tripling the number of passengers each year to 330 million and connecting the Kingdom to more than 250 overseas destinations.
