Traffic accident fatalities in Saudi Arabia drops by 40% in a decade

According to a fresh report from the Ministry of Health in Saudi Arabia, the number of traffic accident deaths in the Kingdom dropped by 40% over the last ten years, from the year 2013 to 2022. Trending Video : Conditions for Job Transfer for domestic workers

The analysis showed that the number of accidents on Saudi roads went down from more than 7,000 deaths and 39,000 injuries in the year 2013 to 4,555 deaths and more than 24,000 injuries last year.

- With a sharp drop in the number of accident deaths and injuries, Saudi Arabia is getting closer to the world goal of cutting traffic deaths by half by the year 2030. The Kingdom is only 10% away from reaching this goal, and it's likely to be reached before the scheduled date.

- This is in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 and its strong support for improving the idea of building up the Ministerial Committee of Traffic Safety (MCTS) system. The goal is to lower the number of accident deaths and injuries and the economic problems that come from them, which are shown by material losses. - The MCTS system's responsible authorities and the traffic safety committees in the areas of different regions have put in place advanced engineering features on the main roads and highways to make them safer. This has reduced the number of serious traffic accidents.

- Along with using modern technology to improve traffic control and surveillance on all roads and running organized campaigns to catch people breaking the law, traffic officials have also set up air ambulance services in five regions and identified areas that need more health care resources to help people who have been in traffic accidents.

- They have also opened medical centers that specialize in treating injuries from traffic accidents. It is important to note that the MCTS was created to oversee the government, cooperation, and coordination between seven ministries that are all responsible for road safety. Based on the best practices around the world, Saudi Arabia has been able to get more people to follow traffic laws, which has led to better road safety and general awareness.
