Drifting endangers Public safety and these are its penalties - Saudi Moroor
The General Traffic Department (Moroor) in Saudi Arabia said that drifting is dangerous and should not be practice. The authority also made it clear the consequences resulted from drifting violations. Drifting is more than just a violation of the Traffic law. The Saudi Moroor through its "X" platform account said that "drifting is not just a traffic violation, rather it is carelessness and threatens the lives of vehicle drivers and the other road users."
- Drivers who drift are "driving a vehicle intentionally carelessly and wildly, without any valid reason." So that the tires make noise when they move forward or backward or when they crawl to the right or left.
- According to the Article 69 of the Saudi Traffic Law, drifting is a traffic crime. The offender is first punished by having his car taken away for 15 days and having to pay a 20,000 riyal fine. - The second time, he gets a 40,000 riyals fine and his car will be taken away for a month. Then he will be sent to court so that the punishment can be decided. He is being punished by going to jail.
- If it happens a third time, he will lose the car and have to pay a 60,000 riyal fine. The case will then be sent to the right court, which will decide whether to take away the car or jail him for the same amount of money as the stolen or hired car.
