Saudi Arabia launches 1st phase of Skill Verification Program in Egypt
The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (MHRSD) in Saudi Arabia started the first phase of the Skill Verification Program (SVP) in Egypt. Trending : Saudi Arabia opens registrations for Hajj 2024 for international pilgrims
The program was launched with help from the Egyptian Ministry of Manpower. The skills examination method is being used in both Egypt and Saudi Arabia to improve the quality of professional services in the Saudi labor market and the efficiency of professional work.
- Five professions covers in the first phase of the external track of the program in Egypt, Plumber, Electrician, Welder, Auto Mechanic, and Carpenter were the chosen to have skill tests. A number of other professional areas are being added by the Ministry to the program in the coming phases.
- This comes in line with the Ministry's efforts to launch the program in several countries. When it began in September 2022, Pakistan was the first country where the the Saudi skilled workers program started. Later it launched in India, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka after Pakistan. - As part of the Skill Verification Program, workers can show that they have the skills needed for the job they want before they can enter the Saudi job market. It is now necessary to have the SVP in order to bring professional workers to Saudi Arabia for certain jobs. The worker can get the SVP from one of the approved testing centers in his home country before coming to Saudi Arabia. They need to pass two tests, first one is Theoretical and the other one is Practical.
- The Skill Verification Program wants to be an important player in developing the professional workforce in line with international standards so that it can meet the needs of the Saudi job market. They also want to improve the quality of services and make the labor market more productive in the Kingdom.
