Saudi Arabia announces fines for violating Security Surveillance Cameras Law


The Ministry of Interior in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has highlighted the harsh punishments for the violators of the Security Surveillance Cameras Law. See Also : Saudi Arabia cancels 3-Years ban rule on Expats who unable to return Kingdom on Exit Re-Entry visa



Authorities from the ministry have said that individuals who send or publish recordings from CCTV systems without permission in the Kingdom will be fined with 20,000 riyals.

- This is part of a larger attempt to control how surveillance systems are used and make sure they are used in a way that protects everyone's privacy and safety. Recommend : Saudization of 25% Engineering professions in the Private sector of Saudi Arabia

- However, the ministry made it clear that anyone caught tampering with or damaging security camera systems or their records would face harsh punishments.

- The Saudi Interior Ministry further clarified about specific rules that must be followed when installing security cameras in the Kingdom.

- A fine of 10,000 riyals will be imposed for each case of installing security cameras illegally in places where they are not allowed. Related : Places where the provisions of CCTV applies

- Additionally, there is a 5,000 riyals fine for not keeping recordings for the time period specified by the document that lists the rules and regulations for surveillance devices.
