Saudi Supreme Court calls for Moon sighting on Monday evening for Eid Al-Fitr
The Supreme Court in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has called all the Muslims living in the country to sight the Shawwal moon on the evening of Monday, 29th Ramadan 1445 (8th April 2024). Join Saudi Expatriates WhatsApp channel for latest updates
Anyone who can see the crescent moon, either with the naked eye or with binoculars, to approach the nearest court and register their testimony.
- The Saudi Supreme Court has encouraged individuals who can participate in the Crescent sighting to sign up for the special committees set up in various regions of the Kingdom.

- According to the Astronomical calculations, this year Eid Al-Fitr is expected to fall on Wednesday, 10th April 2024 in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Arab world. So Muslims this year may observe 30-days fasting as this Ramadan is expected to be of 30 days.
- The Islamic calendar is based on the lunar calendar, which has twelve months every year. The ninth month, Ramadan, ends with Eid Al Fitr, which signifies the conclusion of Ramadan.
- Saudi Arabia has declared six days of paid holidays for public and private sector employees in observance of Eid Al Fitr.
