No entry into Makkah without Permit, starting 4th May 2024 (25th Shawwal 1445)
Starting from Saturday, May 4, 2024, citizens and resident expatriates of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia who want to go to Makkah will be required a permit from the appropriate authorities, this is due to the implementation of regulations for Hajj 2024, according to the General Directorate of Public Security. Security checkpoints on route to the Makkah will be the sites of this regulation, those without the appropriate permits being denied entry. Return of vehicles and residents who do not have an entry permit into Makkah.
- Permits are required to attend Holy Site workplaces, Makkah households and to perform Hajj and Umrah, according to the decision. This comes to prevent those who do not have an entry permit, at the security control centers leading to the Holy Capital.

In order to enter into Makkah, one must provide anyone of the following.
* Entry permit to work at the Holy Sites issued by the competent authority.
* Iqama (Resident permit) issued in Makkah
* Hajj permit or Umrah permit
- Staring from March 1, 2024, Saudi Arabia started issuance of Hajj 2024 visas, which was concluded on April 29, 2024. International Pilgrims are expected to begin arriving in the Kingdom on May 9, 2024.
