On the occasion of International Nurses Day, which was observed on May 12, the Ministry of Health released a report indicating that the overall count of male and female nurses experienced a growth of over 23% between the Years 2016 and 2023.
- In the Saudi health sector, there are 235,461 registered and categorized nurses overall in the year 2023. In 2018, the Ministry of Health released a report indicating that there were 184,565 registered nurses, with 70,319 of them being Saudi nationals. About 70% of nurses worldwide are foreigners, primarily from Malaysia, the Philippines, and India.
- As per the most recent statistics, the Ministry of Health employs around 106,000 nurses, although the number of nurses in other government organizations is estimated to be around 15,000. The number of male and female nurses in the private sector has increased by 67,000, making 235,461 total in the health sector. There are 14 universities in Saudi Arabia that have nursing departments.
